2019
The sixteenth annual Retreat of Our Own (ROOO), September 13–15 at Kuriakos on Sylvan Lake, was excellent. The speaker was Dr. Faith Nostbakken, Spiritual Director and Northern Ecumenical Officer for our Synod. She spoke on the topic, “A Tapestry of Sacred Stories: Yours, Mine, God’s.”
2018
The fifteenth annual Retreat of Our Own (ROOO), September 14–16 at Kuriakos on Sylvan Lake, was wonderful. This year’s speaker was Rev. Dr. Anna Madsen from OMG Center for Theological Education, who had previously spoken at the Bishop’s Study Conference (2016) and the ABT Synod Convention (2018). Dr. Madsen challenged the 53 participants with her ideas about radical grace and justice; on the final morning, she read posts from her blog and then expertly answered audience questions about grief. -submitted by Pamela Giles
