  11. Copyright –  ELCIC Copyright Information

“A charity must ensure that it abides by all copyright laws with respect to resources that it uses. This can range from computer software licenses to blanket permission to use songs or publicly show video clips.

Sometimes individual supporters try to be helpful to a charity by installing software they own on the charity’s computer. The use of such unauthorized copies installed on the charity’s computer is a breach of copyright.

A charity (including a church) needs to obtain an annual license to put up overheads/powerpoints, to show movie clips or videos. The annual license can be obtained by selecting a license provider form among those authorized by the government of Canada.” from Charities Handbook by Canadian Council of Christian Charities 2005
