Study Conference 2024 – February 5-8, 2024

Bishop McGrattan of the Catholic Diocese of Calgary, and Father Lezano welcomed us to the Shrine Church of Our Lady of the Rockies in Canmore and joined us for Holden Evening Prayer on Monday, February 5.

Rev. Dr. Chad Rimmer, rector and dean of Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary of Lenoir-Rhyne University in Columbia, South Carolina, was our keynote speaker.

Videos of the lectures and sermon are available for viewing on our Synod Youtube channel here.

Of further interest:  In February, LTS and the Synod of Alberta and the Territories co-hosted a Storaasli Lecture at Hope Lutheran Church in Calgary. Our speaker was the Rev. Dr. Chad Rimmer, Rector and Dean at Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary in Columbia, S. C.

Olaf K. Storaasli was the President of Luther Theological Seminary from 1953-59. In 2000, he and his family set up an endowed Storaasli Lectureship. This fund is used to bring speakers from the United States to Canada, with the intention of enhancing ELCA-ELCIC seminary relations.

Dr. Rimmer’s theological approach to natural resources and their extraction is stimulating and thought-provoking. We encourage you to take some time to listen.  Click here for a link to the lecture.
